Out of 33 crore SIMs registered in the country, 19 crores are active: Palak
Currently, 19 crore 37 lakh 30 thousand SIMs are active out of 33 crore 27 lakh 56 thousand 970 SIMs registered by all mobile operators in the country, informd the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
The State Minister conveyed this information while responding to a written question of Abdul Malek Sarkar, Member of Parliament for Mymensingh-6 Constituency on Monday (June 24).
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the session. On this day questions and answers are presented on the table.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that currently there are four cellular mobile phone operators in Bangladesh - Grameen Phone Limited, Robi Axiata Limited, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited and Teletalk Bangladesh Limited. Currently the registered SIM of Grameenphone Limited is 11 crore 95 lakh 67 thousand 925, Banglalink 9 crore 7 lakh 65 thousand 962, Robi Axiata Limited 10 crore 79 lakh 61 thousand 800 and Teletalk Bangladesh Limited 1 crore 44 lakh 61 thousand 283. The total number of SIMs is 33 crore 27 lakh 56 thousand 970.
Number of active SIMs of Grameenphone Limited is 8 crore 39 lakh 50 thousand, Robi Axiata is 5 crore 85 lakh 10 thousand, Banglalink is 4 crore 47 lakh 20 thousand, Teletalk Bangladesh Limited is 65 lakh 50 thousand. The total number of active SIMs is 19 crore 37 lakh 30 thousand.
